Roxy was found badly injured on the street, most likely after being hit by a car and left without help. She had multiple wounds on her hind legs, an abdominal injury, and a complicated fracture in her front leg that had healed incorrectly.
After being rescued, Roxy received the medical attention she desperately needed. Despite the severity of her injuries, specialists determined that her damaged leg could be saved rather than amputated.
Roxy underwent a complex surgery to repair the fracture. A metal plate and screws were used to stabilize the bone and give her leg the best possible chance to heal.
The surgery was successful, but Roxy still has a long recovery ahead. Her activity must remain limited while the bone heals properly.
Once she is strong enough, Roxy will begin rehabilitation, including physical therapy and hydrotherapy to restore mobility and rebuild weakened muscles.
She will also need another surgery to remove the implanted plate and screws, along with continued veterinary care and monitoring.
Roxy has already overcome so much. With continued treatment and rehabilitation, she has a real chance to live a happy, active life on all four paws.
