Koda has endured more than any dog should. She was rescued from a cruel puppy mill, where she spent much of her early life confined and frightened, with little human contact.
She later spent years in a shelter. The stress of being confined at night caused severe panic, and Koda repeatedly bit the metal bars of her enclosure. Over time, her teeth were worn down almost completely to the gumline.
Despite everything she has been through, Koda never gave up. In foster care, she has made incredible progress. She is learning to trust people, enjoy affection, explore the outdoors, and live peacefully alongside other dogs and cats.
Unfortunately, the damage to her teeth has now become a serious medical problem. The remaining tooth fragments are deteriorating beneath the gumline, causing painful infections and significant discomfort.
A routine dental procedure is no longer enough. Koda needs extensive oral surgery to remove the damaged teeth and roots, treat the infection, and finally relieve her pain. Most of her remaining teeth may need to be removed.
Koda has fought hard for the chance to live a normal, happy life. This surgery is one of the final obstacles standing between her and a future without constant pain.
